Israelis-based airline, El Al announced today that it will purchase four Boeing 737-900ERs with an option for an additional two FlightGlobal reports.
The order will be the first of the longer-range 900ER series for El Al (“ER” standing for “extended range”). The company currently uses 737-700s and 737-800s. The new 737-900ERs will replace El Al’s aging 757 fleet for extended medium range flights to Europe.
El Al expects to receive the planes between 2013-2016.
