IAG Orders 8 Airbus A330, Options for 8 More

International Airline Group, the parent company of the newly-merged British Airways and Iberia announced on Monday that Iberia was ordering eight A330s from Airbus with an option to purchase eight more to be delivered before summer of 2014 Reuters reports.

The wide-body A330 will replace some of Iberia’s larger A340s in a move to save on fuel by switching to the more efficient aircraft The Wall Street Journal reports.

The merger between British Airways and Iberia was approved by shareholders in November of last year with the merger becoming official over the winter.
