Airbus Trails Boeing Orders on the Eve of Paris Air Show

According to Reuters, American planemaker Boeing has racked up more commercial plane orders through the first five months of the year compared to its European rival Airbus.

Through May, Boeing received 133 net orders compare to Airbus’ 97. In gross orders Boeing had a slight lead of 182 over 176.

But with a new product offering, the A320neo, Airbus is expected to announce several new orders at the Paris Air Show potentially vaulting it ahead of Boeing who will be showing off its new 747-8 but does not have an attractive new offering in the highly competitive narrow-body market like Airbus does. The Paris Air Show begins on June 20th and will run through June 26th.
