The Associated Press reports that with only weeks until its official launch, the Boeing 787 landed at Tokyo’s Haneda Airport for final testing as it prepares to hand the plane over to All Nippon Airways before the end of the summer.
The test aircraft will fly several of ANA’s domestic routes out of Tokyo this week to confirm the jet’s readiness for passenger travel. Maintenance crews will also practice refueling, towing and other routine servicing operations.
With Boeing now testing the plane in Japan with ANA, it seems almost a foregone conclusion that Boeing will not face another delay with the plane. ANA will now test the plane on some of its domestic routes as it prepares to train pilots and crew and prepare for the official handover from Boeing, ushering in a new era in commercial aviation.
